Focusing on the students
Our project started as a response to an organic need, regarding the educational field of puppetry in Romania. First, there are very little opportunities for students that are graduating a puppetry school in terms of opportunities. Secondly, few Universities in Romania have a puppetry and children’s theatre curriculum. Because of these and other implicit factors, the community of puppeteers in Romania is a scattered one. We want to create the opportunity for this community to emerge, to coagulate itself in order to learn together for creating genuine vocational relations among the students from Romania and other European countries.
So far, this network is happening during ,,Puck” International Festival of Puppet And Marionette Theatres, with a special focus on students work. This year’s edition will be held between 14th – 19th of October.
Moreover, our long-term objective is to develop a cultural hub for studying the art of puppeteering on many levels such as: giving an opportunity to create relations between students and institutions, developing skills on handling puppets, creating a network for substantial and updated information in the field and offering thematic workshops.
For this year’s edition, we have in plan:
A workshop of stop motion in puppetry, coordinated by Magali Chouinard, addressed to actors and students, and two performances: The White Woman and Nomad Soul, https://www.magalichouinard.com/
A workshop in the art of Commedia dell’ Arte coordinated by Gaspare Nasuto https://gasparenasuto.wixsite.com/ladomusdipulcinella/english
A network of puppetry students from Romania and from other European countries, in which they will perform their exam shows. Each performance will be scheduled in such a way, so every student will see each other’s performances.
A national competition between ten of the most recent creations of the Romanian puppet theaters.
An international network of creators and programmers interested in puppetry.
